6th September 2-16 - Birdsville - Tyresome Camp
Packed up and headed out of Birdsville towards Bedourie & Boulia and then onto Winton as the Windorah Rd is still closed. Rumor has it that 3 cars left last night heading towards Windorah and the Police are waiting for them when they arrive. Another rumor is that there were cars washed off the Windorah Rd so not sure about that one. Beautiful sunny and warm 27deg with not a cloud in the sky. Lots & lots of flooded road and quite a procession of Caravans, cars, 4WD and trucks heading out of Birdsville. Stopped at Bedourie for a cuppa and now heading towards Boulia to find a camp for the night 29deg and beautiful. We are passing through Channel country at the moment and it is so flat with no trees but still quite spectacular. Stopped to take a picture at Tropic of Capricorn and then as we were going through a bit of water over the road we hit a huge hole where the water has washed away the road, Luckily we were going slow but still managed to get a flat tyre as well as a bit of damage to the other 2 tyres on the drivers side. Have decided to call this camp spot "Tyresome Camp" because of it. Tomorrow we head 80kms into Boulia so hopefully able to get the tyre fixed.
