Trailer all fixed after Barry took it down to the garage at
7.00am this morning, and not expensive so pretty happy with that. Windorah has
no mobile phone or internet access and I was told by the Receptionist at the
cabins that if I visit after Christmas there will be, don’t think so. It
certainly feels a little strange being this isolated. Another glorious day but apparently lots of
rain due on Thursday, so, we will wait and see. The couple that were in the
cabin beside us had a much worse day than us yesterday, they got as far as the
turn off to the Birdsville Development Rd and rolled their caravan, so lucky
that both weren’t killed. The caravan
came off the car so only minimal damage to their car. This morning they were at the garage trying
to organise someone to go and collect the bits & pieces left beside the
road. They were one of the caravans that pulled into our camp at Thylungra, the
rest of the caravans went on. Lunch
finished and our last leg into Birdsville 274kms and 28 degrees at 12.30 Have managed to find a nice little camp spot
off the road approx. 180kms east of Birdsville which I am naming “Serpent Hill”
because of the beautiful Artwork here on the side of the hill. We called past
Betoota to have a look as there was a race meeting there on the 27th
August, nothing there but a derelict hotel and a very nice little plane sitting
on the runway. Obviously belonged to the one and only house I saw in the area.
