Lots of wind during the night and have woken to a sunny,
warm and extremely windy day. Lyn &
Kevin are having trouble putting their camper down so there is a little
maintenance going on at the moment with Barry on the floor trying to tighten or
loosen something so it will work. There is now a lot of traffic on the road all
flying along to get to Birdsville and the skies look very stormy. On the
Birdsville track and Barry only had 2 places where we had to stop and engage
4WD, the rest of the track was really good and at some stages were traveling at
90kph. Have had a little drive and look
around Birdsville after filling with fuel and having a Birdsville pie for
lunch. There are tents going up
everywhere with souvenirs and a boxing tent as well as lots of people milling
around the Hotel, all the camping has to be away from the town centre so we are
camped in a nice spot away from everyone at this stage but heaven knows if that
will stay the same as it gets closer to the race on a bit of a hill just in
case it does rain. Caravan park is $40 per night with no power and they are all
squashed in, certainly not my idea of a nice place.
